1st Floor Air Handling Units
This project was to install two new chilled water air handling units in the main floor equipment room to provide additional cooling to the floor. Work included installation of the new units; providing chilled water piping, ductwork distribution complete with air outlets, mechanical insulation, controls and electrical wiring.
2nd Floor Fan Coil
This project was to install new chilled water fan coil unit in the second floor equipment room to provide additional cooling to the south portion of the floor. Work included installation of the new fan coil unit, providing chilled water piping, ductwork distribution complete with air outlets, mechanical insulation, controls and electrical wiring. Demolition plans were also provided for removal of existing Liebert unit and associated condenser, ductwork, refrigerant piping.
New Building Management System (BMS) and Control System Upgrade
This project consists of replacing the existing Building Management System with a new generation BMS system complete with control of all major HVAC equipment, graphics, remote web based access etc. The new BMS system was designed as an open protocol system for integration with multiple manufacturers.
In addition the chilled water system control sequences were replaced with new staging sequences and some accompanying pipe system modifications to accommodate the new sequence of operations for the existing chilled water system.
The project was carried out in two phases, first phase; installation of energy monitoring and trending equipment to provide an existing baseline for chilled water system energy consumption. The second phase; the remainder of the project including new central BMS system and new control sequencing to stage chilled water production to match building loads.
HVAC System Upgrade - 2nd Floor Equipment Room
Design a new Air Handling Unit (AHU) in 2nd Floor Equipment Room. The new AHU with 25 ton of cooling capacity connected to the building chilled water system. The new AHU control system is tied to the building BMS system.
Mechanical System Review
A thorough review of the building heating, ventilation and air conditioning system as well as the building mechanical services was performed to assess and review the performance of the existing air handling units, fan coil units, chillers, boilers, pumps, etc. Recommendations were given to rectify any deficiencies that may have been found in the existing HVAC system and/or the existing mechanical system.
Third Floor UPS Distribution
ES Engineering was retained to prepare tender documents for an additional UPS distribution in the Edmonton Main third floor data center area to feed 6 new cabinets and provide future growth as required.
