Mechanical Review

This large office building located near Jasper Avenue required a review of its refrigeration system to ensure the safety of staff in the event of a refrigerant leak. A thorough investigation was performed to see if the existing system met code. ES Engineering reviewed the existing AHU Heating Coils and the Make-Up Air Unit to determine efficiency and the general condition of the mechanical equipment located throughout the entire building.

Should a system require additional attention to meet standards and in compliance to local code of practice, recommendations are given that are as cost effective as possible.

AHU Heating (MUA) Coils Design

Recommendations were made on how to increase efficiency of existing equipment and systems. ES Engineering was responsible to retrofit two air handling units (MUA) located in the 44 Capital Building to operate on a water and glycol system. The design involved the addition of a heat exchanger, rerouting of piping as well and the addition of new valves, re-circulating pumps and other miscellaneous equipment required for proper operation.

3rd Floor Perimeter Heating

The mechanical and electrical design document provided for provisions of a fan coil heating system to be installed at second (2nd) floor above false ceiling to warm up the above floor and to give comfort to the occupants at the third (3rd) floor level.

Building Humidification System Review

ES Engineering was retained by Dundee Realty Management to investigate and advise regarding the present humidification system operating at the 44 Capital Blvd Building.
