Boiler Replacement

Two existing boilers located in this research facility were replaced and variable frequency drives (VFD) were added to the circulation pumps for the boilers. VFDs will adjust the speed of the pumps to the demand accordingly, typically the pumps would run at maximum capacity. By lowering the speed of the pumps, operating costs are reduced.

Replacement of the boilers was completed in three phases. One boiler along with associated piping, controls and any electrical revisions was replaced, the second boiler was then similarly replaced as well. In the final phase the VFDs were installed on the associated pumps as well as replacement of the existing valves with new valves.

Unit Heater Replacement

Six existing gas fired unit heaters located in this research facility were replaced with hot water/glycol unit heaters with a new circulation pump.

Testing Lab Ventilation System

A detail designed of ventilation system in Syncrude Research Centre - Testing Laboratory in order to comply with the Canadian Building Code of Practice as well as to give comfort with the space occupants.

Fume Hood Extension Redesign

ES Engineering was assigned to re-design the existing fume hood ventilation system at Syncrude Research Centre Facilities.
